As I was working with some photos I took at Bannack Ghost Town in Bannack, Montana, the thought to try and colorize a black and white image. I decided to take a photo, turn it black and white, and then colorize it as if the image was black and white from the beginning.

Here is the original image:

I then proceeded too turn the image black and white, which gave me the following result:

Once I changed the image to black and white, I began to add color back in to his hat. I chose a color I liked, not the color of the original image, but more of a brown color. From their, I proceeded to add color into his face, then his shirt, and finally his jacket. The photo below is the final result.

I actually like the restored color more than I do the original colored image. I like the tones that are brought out in the image as well as the detail.
